SDMC Committee Resignations

Unfortunately this month we've received the resignations of two of our most active committee members, President and Secretary Tom and Sue Hynd. Change of personal circumstances dictate that they can no longer dedicate the necessary time to the committee however they assure us they will remain active as club members. Tom and Sue's dedication over the last few years has been a great influence in the club growing from strength to strength and I'm sure we wish them all the very best for the future and extend our thanks for their hard work.

This does leave the club with a significant gap to fill however, and even more than ever we are in need of people to come on board and contribute time to to the running of the club and the organising of events. With the Hynds pencilled in to organise the Autocrosses and the NE25 this year it is forseeable that these events will simply all be cancelled if the responsibilities are not taken on. Anyone can organise an event and all help, advice and assistance will be given by experienced organisers. We value the competitors who turn up and support our events but we really need some of our clubmen to sacrifice some time behind the wheel and take the reins as a Clerk of the Course or an Event Secretary. Please get in touch with Championship Coordinator Roy Kemp or Competition Secretary Gordon Reid using the details on the contact page if you are able to help.

SDMC Autocross, 5th July

A lack of venue however has forced the cancellation of this event. We need a new venue and volunteers to run these events if they are to continue. Any large field with access/area for trailers etc is suitable, with a grazing as opposed to a crop/stubble field preferred. Please get in touch with any contacts or leads you may know of.

SDMC Autotest, 7th June
Due to a suitable venue not being available this event was unfortunately postponed. However it will run before year end so if anyone knows of a suitable venue for Autotesting please get in touch!

SDMC Forum
Although it once again appears to be operational, We are aware that the club forum has been having problems. However as it's on a free-hosted server there is nothing we can do to get it sorted, and it looks like the forum may disappear altogether in the near future. All of this is beyond SDMC's control unfortunately. However, there always exists the opportunity to start a new one up from scratch and hosting it on the same forum as the SDMC website. This would not be free of charge to the club however but if enough club members want to see a forum reinstated, then the committee are sure to consider it! Please send feedback/thoughts/ideas to Roy Kemp.
